MY STORY
My full name is Melanie but I go by Mel (it's simply easier to remember). I was born and raised on a family farm in Ashton, Idaho. Through my family I learned valuable lessons of being resourceful, being independent, and learning that with a little hard work and a whole lot of love you can achieve anything you want.
I have made some life changes recently that can be big and scary but exciting all at the same time. I was a nurse for 20 years and decided that I had fullfilled that calling. I had always thought that CHB would be "plan A" some day and it just took that step in the middle of a pandemic. The timing was ironic. I walked away for nursing being my primary role and took CHB and the farm that my husband and I run by the horns. I am so grateful that I can feed people quaility farm fresh food and keep people clean with soap that has the farm as a foundation.

I also have found that I have a passion for farmer's markets and manage the Gooding Farmer's Market. I am also part of the Lincoln County Crossroads farmers market and hope to join the Jerome Farmers Market in 2022.
I am married to my best friend, my business partner and the love of my life. We have celebrated 20 years of marriage. Together we run 3 small businesses (Gallup Veterinary Services, Gallup Family Farms and Calloused Hands Bounty). We are also blessed with 2 boys that are growing fast and are becoming two wonderful young men. I never thought I would like the teenager years but I am really enjoying seeing the world through their eyes.

I also enjoy baking, knitting, crocheting, camping, horseback riding and doing anything with my family.

I want to stay true to my Idaho and agriculture roots, so I try to get my main supplies from here in Gooding and in general, Idaho. Then I start branching out with what else the USA and the world can provide. It is absolutely amazing what you can use if you just look.
